Free schema validator for Google and AI search

Validate a page’s JSON-LD and Microdata against schema.org and Google’s rich result requirements in one report, with the fix for every error.

What this schema validator checks

This schema validator reads every JSON-LD block and Microdata item on the page and checks four things in each one:

  • The vocabulary: that every type and property exists in schema.org, that each property belongs to the type it is used on, and which properties are superseded. It suggests the right name for typos such as datepublished.
  • The values: dates in ISO 8601, absolute URLs, prices without currency symbols, three-letter currency codes, ratings inside their scale and schema.org values for availability and event status.
  • Google’s rich result requirements: the required and recommended properties for articles, products, offers, reviews, breadcrumbs, local businesses, events, recipes, videos, job postings, software apps, courses and more.
  • Entity tips for AI search: the links and publisher details that tie your pages to your brand as one entity.

The most common schema errors

  • Invalid JSON. A trailing comma or an unescaped quote breaks the whole block, and crawlers ignore all of it. The validator shows the line.
  • Prices with symbols. "price": "$49.99" is not a number; use "price": "49.99" and "priceCurrency": "USD".
  • Dates in local formats. 30/09/2026 can’t be parsed; use 2026-09-30, with the time and time zone when you know them.
  • Missing required properties. A Product without offers, reviews or a rating, or an Offer without a price, can’t get a rich result.
  • Markup that doesn’t match the page. Ratings, prices or FAQs that visitors can’t see on the page break Google’s guidelines, even when they validate.

Structured data does not put you in AI answers by itself: assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity mostly read the visible content of a page. What markup does well is describe your brand as one consistent entity, with its name, logo and sameAs links to your official profiles, which helps search engines, and the AI features built on them, connect every mention of you. To make sure AI crawlers can read the page in the first place, run our AI crawler checker; to see whether Google’s AI Overviews cite you, use the AI Overview checker .

Valid markup is one input to AI visibility; being named in the answers is the result. Mencoro tracks how ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode mention your brand every day, next to your competitors, from €15 a month.

FAQ

Schema validator: frequently asked questions

Enter the URL of the page, or paste its JSON-LD or HTML. The validator extracts every JSON-LD block and Microdata item, checks each type and property against the schema.org vocabulary, checks dates, URLs, prices and ratings, and tells you what Google requires and recommends for the rich result that type can get.
The Schema Markup Validator (validator.schema.org) checks markup against schema.org only, and Google’s Rich Results Test checks only the types Google turns into rich results. This validator does both in one report, flags invalid values such as prices with currency symbols or dates in the wrong format, and adds entity tips for AI search.
Structured data helps search engines understand what a page is about and which entity it belongs to, and Google uses it across its search features. AI assistants mainly read the visible content of the page, so markup is not a shortcut into their answers, but a consistent entity, with sameAs links to your official profiles, makes your brand easier to recognize everywhere.
It reads the HTML as your server sends it. If your structured data is added by JavaScript after the page loads, as some tag managers and plugins do, it isn’t in that HTML. Google can still read it after rendering the page, but many other crawlers and AI assistants don’t render JavaScript, so server-side markup is safer.
No. Meeting the requirements makes a page eligible, but Google decides whether to show a rich result based on the query, the page’s quality and its own policies. Some types are also restricted: FAQ rich results only appear for well-known government and health sites, and HowTo rich results are no longer shown.
